In spite of its many struggles in its 263 years of life and near extinction the church continues to live and have a vibrant ministry. This is assurance enough of God's promise that not even the gates of hell shall prevail against God's church. God's presence with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana is its assurance that it will continue for another 263 years and beyond.

PASTORS AND PARISHES

Rev. Brian Konkol - Pastor of Emmanuel parish in the Upper Corentyne area. Pastor Konkol is an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America pastor who did his internship in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana . His experience was so positive that he asked to return and serve the church.

Along with being pastor of the Emmanuel parish. Pastor Konkol serves as Director of the Lutheran Camp and Retreat centre at Skeldon. Additionally he shares a panel with Pastors Roy Thakurdyal and Moses Prashad on the Evangelical Lutheran Church In Guyana Television Evangelism programme. This proramme is formatted along the line of a panel engaged in a bible study presented in a dialogical form. Another area of his activity is lecturing on Worship and Liturgy in the Lutheran Lay Academy .

Pastor Konkol joined the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana ministry in August of 2005.

Rev. Judy McGuire - Pastor Judy McGuire like Pastor Konkol is a pastor of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America serving in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana . Her substantive post is that of the Director of Christian Education Department. Pastor McGuire brings to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana more than thirty(30) years of experience in the Christian Education ministry of the church. She served most of that time in various parts of Africa .

Together with being Director of the Christian Education Department, Pastor McGuire is the pastor(acting) of the St. Michael parish on the Corentyne. This is a five-congregation parish. Pastor McGuire also lectures at the Lutheran Lay Academy . She lectures in Church History. .

Pastor McGuire came to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana in February 2002.

Rev. Errol Inshanally – Pastor Errol Inshanally is the pastor of the St. John parish. This three-congregation parish is situated in central Corentyne. Pastor Errol is one of the very few pastors who have served the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana for more than fifteen years. He was ordained in 1986. Pastor Errol and the St. John parish have been operating a soup kitchen for many years now. This ministry caters for several needy persons of all ages. Pastor Errol also has a Television ministry during the Lent season. Pastor Errol is one of the pastors who lectures at the Lutheran Lay Academy . He lectures in Theology.

Pastor Errol is married to Christine. Together they have two children, Albert and Ann Marie.

Rev. Roy Thakurdyal – Pastor Roy Thakurdyal is the pastor of the Transfiguration parish in the East Canje District. He has been the pastor of this parish since 1988 when he was ordained. Pastor Thakurdyal has been the President of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana since 1996. He lectures at the Lutheran Lay Academy at the Berbice and Georgetown branches. Pastor Roy lectures in Homilectics in Berbice and Homilectics and Biblical studies in Georgetown . Pastor Roy shares in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana Television. Evangelism programme which is a weekly presentation.

Pastor Roy served the Guyana Council of Churches in several capacities including as First Vice-President. He is the President of the New Amsterdam Canje Christian Council and serves on Ethnic Relations Commission of Guyana.

Also he serves on the Region six Health Authority Board and a School Board. He also serves the Lutheran World Federation as an advisor to the Ecumenical Affairs Committee.

Pastor Roy is married to Alice who is the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana Administrative Secretary and Organist for the Transfiguration parish.

Rev. Leroy Nicholson - Pastor Leroy Nicholson serves the largest parish in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana , the Reformation parish. This is a nine-point parish in the Berbice river. The parish is widely spread and is in a economically depressed area. Most of the parishioner are self-employed. Ministry in this parish is challenging.

Pastor Leroy joined the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana ministry in 2000.

Pastor Leroy is married to Janice. They have four children.

Rev. Burchell Moriah – Pastor Burchell Moriah is the patriarch in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana . At seventy years he is still very active serving the Good Shepherd parish. This is a four-point parish on the West Coast of Berbice. Pastor Moriah served the Reformation parish in his first pastorate. Pastor Moriah's faithfulness and dedication to ministry stands out as a beacon and an example for all pastors. Pastor Moriah serves on the Executive Council for several years now.

Pastor Moriah is married to Zephyrene. Their union bore seven children.

Rev. Moses Prashad – Pastor Moses Prashad is the Pastor of the Advent parish. He has been serving this parish since his ordination in 1998. This four-congregation parish is located on the West Coast of Berbice. Pastor Prashad is the third person of the trio of pastors who present the Lutheran bible study programme on television. Also he lectures on Biblical Studies at the Lutheran Lay Academy . Pastor Prashad is the Vice-President of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana

Pastor Moses is married to Joyce. They have a son who is Kristov. Joyce is a school teacher.

Rev. Royan Rodney - Pastor Rodney is the newest and youngest pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana . He joined the ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana in October of 2005. Pastor Rodney serves the St. Matthew Parish. This four congregation parish is on the East Coast Demerara.

Pastor Rodney is married to Nichole who is an Evangelical Lutheran Church in America pastor. They recently became parents with the birth of their first born in February.

Rev. Stephen Nahar – Pastor Nahar joined the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana ministry in August 2001. Since then he has been serving the St. Andrew parish on the East Coast Demerara. This parish has three congregations. Pastor Nahar also lectures at the Lutheran Lay Academy in the subject of Church History in Georgetown . Pastor Nahar is also the pastor(ag) of the Redeemer parish in Georgetown .

Pastor Nahar is married to Roshni. They have three children.

Rev. Prince Denny – Pastor Denny is the pastor of the Calvary parish in Georgetown . This is a one-congregation parish. Pastor Denny was recently transferred to this parish after serving the Ascension parish for about eight years. Pastor Denny also lectures at the Lutheran Lay Academy in the school of Theology .

Pastor Denny is married to Maylene. They have five sons.

Rev. Richard Young – Pastor Richard Young is the pastor of the Ascension parish in Georgetown . This parish has two congregations in the city, one on the West Coast Demerara and one up the Demerara river. Pastor Young is one of the three Evangelical Lutheran Church in America pastors serving in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana . He entered the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana ministry in September 2001. His first pastorate was the Emmanuel parish. Pastor of this relationship from Fellowship Lutheran Church end is Dr. Erv Janssen. Since 1996 most of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana pastors have visited Fellowship Lutheran Church to participate in their Mission Week activities. Annually several persons from Fellowship Lutheran Church and other churches in the network came to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana on music, construction, medical educational, sewing and camping activities. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana and Fellowship Lutheran Church have been mutually built up by this relationship.

Rev. Paul Moonu - Pastor Paul Moonu has been an Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana pastor for nine years now. He is at present at Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago pursuing Doctoral studies in Theology. He is being prepared to take up the Lutheran chair at the United Theological College of the West Indies, Jamaica . Before leaving for Chicago Pastor Moonu served the Ebenezer parish and on the Executive Council as Vice-President.

Pastor Moonu is married to Maylene who is with him in Chicago . They have a son, he is Tony.

Diana Liverpool - Ms. Diana Liverpool is the home Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana ministerial student. She is at present doing her internship at the Good Shepherd parish. After completing her internship Ms. Liverpool will return to United Theological College of the West Indies, Jamaica to complete her preparation for the ministry in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Guyana . Ms. Liverpool is from the Advent parish and hails from West Coast Berbice.
